About the Taskforce
Appalachian State University's Graduate Education Taskforce began meeting in January 2005. The Taskforce was formed at the urging of the Faculty Senate, and members were selected by the Provost based on recommendations of the Graduate School Dean. The Taskforce was not charged with examining individual programs, as this is the retinue of the Graduate Council. The Taskforce was charged with examining 1) How ASU should position itself in graduate education, 2) where the university wishes to go as an institution, and 3) how will the university know if is getting there.
The Taskforce is divided into three subcommittees: Outcome Measurement, Program Resource, and Quality and Accountability. Minutes from meetings of the Taskforce and its subcommittees are available on the Documents page.
To provide for informed discussion, the Taskforce collected background information about graduate programs at ASU and other schools. This information includes data on scholarships, student demographics, and feeder schools and is available on the Background page
